We have plenty coming for the pilots!

We thank for for all of your compliments, we appreciate them very much and your support as now we have pilots! Enough to deal with the needs of the industry anyway. We’re still on the ground floor so it’s a good time to get in. For those of you who aren’t familiar, PiloTrac it’s a brand-new system that was just released November 23 of 2013. So we are learning right along with you about what works, what will be used and what will not. What we’ve found so far is that the carriers prefer to click and call the pilot car companies as it’s much easier for them rather than posting their runs. Totally to date we’ve only had about 83 loads posted at the time of this writing (end of May 2014) since the release of this new system. We were hoping for more than that but then in a meeting discovered something.

OK, we have pilots!

The only people that would be primarily posting loads to the system are people that have a whole bunch of loads or at least more than one – why post one when you can click and call? So we have to ask ourselves what kind of companies have a whole bunch of loads. One trucking companies that have taken a contract and have multiple runs. Two pilot car brokerage companies.

Here are our thoughts on this. At this time there are a lot of runs being brokered within the current working pilot car industry. There are only a handful of people/companies controlling the majority of these runs. This is being carried over from before and the earlier days of internet technology. With this new system we will eventually tilt the industry back in the direction of the pilot cars by offering direct communications and locations. Our main objective is to have pilot car companies working directly with carriers. We are not against pilot car brokerage companies. Just like the trucking industry brokerage companies are a necessity because one company can’t have customers in every location. However within the pilot car industry the ratio of brokered runs versus pilot cars is simply too high we believe. So while we support the pilot car brokerage industry we do not want to perpetuate it’s growth any further. It’s time to turn the table a bit so to speak.

In consideration of what is needed.

In building this new system we thought about not including a load posting feature. But if we didn’t we would have all kinds of companies calling us telling us how cool it would be if we were to add a feature like this so we went ahead and built it. It will also come in handy for pilot car companies that have taken a run but for some reason or the other are not able to cover it (delays, breakdowns, whatever). With every account type comes the ability to post loads so this should solve that problem in the event a company ever finds themselves under those circumstances.

The future of the pilot car industry is up to you.

The future of this system really relies on the industry it’s self. Companies like yours will shape the future and determine exactly how PiloTrac is to be used and what’s best for them. So while we don’t have all the answers, what we hopefully have provided is a solid base foundation of tools for the industry to grow with, get more organized and eventually be more in control in of itself by being connected tighter. We have hundreds and sometimes even thousands of trucking companies using the loadboard system every single day and last year the website averaged 866,000 actual human page visits a month. We are marketing the PiloTrac system to our carriers on a biweekly basis and they are using it and appear to like it as they return. Since the release we have got nothing but good, healthy and supportive positive feedback from both carriers and pilot car companies by phone and by email so we have to assume that we’re doing something right.

We have premium and basic account types.

Just so you know a premium account is for a company that has things like a website, multiple pictures, uses Facebook or Twitter and wants to promote their company as much as possible. A premium account also features a thumbnail image of the primary photo (first uploaded) when a customer clicks on your pin in the map. Other than that the pins are all the same color and the map fully promotes equality within the industry because a company with a large ad budget can’t overtake a one-man operation by purchasing something that puts them up front or above others. If ever need any help with your account just let us know and we will take care of whatever the issue is for you. Either way were really splitting hairs (which sometimes has to be done) as the basic service is only $4.17 a month whereas the premium service is $5.83 a month. Please be aware that live posting is an add-on feature and costs an additional five dollars per month per vehicle that you choose to post with live. However unlike your yearly subscription to our service the live posting service is paid for whenever feel like and only in 30 day increments of five dollars.

Again we appreciate all of your support and positive feedback and are more than sure that you will find this new system a great asset for your company. If we can ever be of assistance to you please let us know. If you buzz around the site you will see that there is plenty of information and tutorials as well as news and updates on what’s going on. Like just now we are in the process of building a phone app for live posting which we hope to be releasing soon. Hopefully this information has helped to get your pilot car company rolling in the right direction.
